I am the creature of the expurgating flame
Compassion and rage were the sparks
And I have always been the gasoline
And I am the creature of the expurgating flame
We don't jump out of buildings and off bridges because we have no fear of the ground
It is because we are more scared of the flames
That person standing at the ledge is burning, and just because we can't see the flames doesn't mean we aren't on fire
We are burning, and as the naive below scream not to jump, they never yell that w can put out the fire, or even acknowledge that someone is burning
The fear of falling and of hitting the ground is not any lower because we are on fire
It is just a choice between two types of pain, ephemeral and infite
Would you prefer to burn forever or have your heart drop into your stomach as you fall to the ground, embracing the fate you were born with?
Can we blame those who escape the fire by accepting their expiration date
In this rat race of depression, the flames have made us hide in in the dark crevasses
What was once considered life for a million years, is now considered the fringe of fringe
To believe in the moment, in compassion, in shared experience, in community
Is to be pushed to the edge of this so called civilization, at risk of conquering like the thousands of peoples we have destroyed with our enlightenment
We put the fire inside them out with bulldozers, ships, religion, language, science
We dominated them with culture, with the idea that this life isn't enough, that we must live for a life after life
We put the chains on them without realizing we had built our own walls and imprisoned ourselves
12 thousand years away from a life that was once human
separated so deeply from the earth that we bury ourselves in boxes, as not to touch the soil
The blocks we live on have hundreds of consciousnesses we know nothing of, except which car they poison this world with
We used to be of the earth, now we are from the earth, aliens in our own home, taking weekend trips to return to nature, forgetting that we are nature
Forsaking the humanity that burns bright within each of us, we have come to this place
We are apocalypse, we are alien, our humanity left behind in a world that civilization has built itself on
And we have only one choice. Take this heat and flame that is each of us, and set the world on fire
Burn the prisons, burn the cubicles, the factory farms, the borders, the police, and the state
Let us be human again, let us live with the language we were born with, let us decolonize our minds and the world, burn the physical and metaphysical cages we are locked in, BURN
